Spring 2009
CSE 8001 CNP - Combinatorial Methods in Non-Parametric Estimation
Prof. Guy Lebanon
Credits: 1.0, Enrolled: Spring 2009, Grade: S
Covers the basic theory of non-parametric estimation with a focus on combinatorial methods such as concentrartion inequalities and VC-theory using "Combinatorial Methods in Density Estimation" by Devroye and Lugosi as the main reference and "Introduction to Nonparametric Estimation" by Tsybakov as a secondary reference. During the second part of the semester students are exposed to a few open problems. [link]
Fall 2009
MATH 6241 - Probability I
Prof. Christian Houdré
Credits: 3.0, Enrolled: Fall 2009, Grade: [Audit]
Develops the probability basis requisite in modern statistical theories and stochastic processes. Topics of this course include measure and integration foundations of probability, distribution functions, convergence concepts, laws of large numbers, and central limit theory. First of two courses.
